VETERAN-OWNED JUNK REMOVAL NEAR ME
ClearPath Junk Removal is a veteran-owned hauling company based in Pueblo West, CO, and Pueblo West is our home service area β not an outer ring we drive to when the schedule is thin. We run a 16-cubic-yard dump trailer with a skid steer available for heavy work, quote flat prices on-site before anything gets loaded, and hold a 15% military discount (active duty, Guard, reserve, retired, and veterans) capped at $150 per job. Typical jobs run $75 for a single-item pickup to $450 for a packed full trailer. Most Pueblo West calls placed before noon get same-day or next-day service. Below, we also explain how to actually verify a "veteran-owned" claim β including why the federal database most people cite will not list us or almost any local hauler.
What "veteran-owned" actually means, and how to check it
Search "veteran owned" for any trade and you'll get a wall of flags, eagles, and vague badges. Very little of that is verified by anyone.
Here's the honest breakdown:
- The Google Business Profile "Veteran-led" attribute is self-attested. A business owner checks a box in the dashboard. Google does not request a DD-214. It is a claim, not a credential.
- SBA's VetCert program (veterans.certify.sba.gov) took over veteran business certification from the VA in January 2023, and it *is* document-verified. But it exists for federal contracting β the government's 3% set-aside goal for service-disabled veteran-owned small businesses. A residential junk hauler in Pueblo West has almost no reason to carry it, so most legitimately veteran-owned local haulers won't appear there.
- The Colorado Secretary of State business search confirms an entity is registered, in good standing, and who the registered agent is. It says nothing about military service.
- The reliable check is direct: ask the owner what branch, what MOS or rate, what years, and where they were stationed. Someone who served will answer in about four seconds. Someone who bought a flag graphic will get vague.
We'd rather you run that check on us than take a badge at face value. Ask on the phone.
> A veteran-owned sticker doesn't lift a 700-pound hot tub over a retaining wall. Ask about the truck, the insurance, and the dump ticket β then ask about the service.
What veteran ownership actually changes about the job
Some of this is real. Some of it is marketing. The real parts:
- Arrival windows are treated as commitments. We quote a 2-hour window and call 30 minutes out. If we're going to miss it, you get a call before the window closes, not after.
- Price is set before work starts. You get a written flat number after we look at the pile. It doesn't move unless you add items.
- Load-out sequencing. Two people moving 6,000 lbs of debris in 90 minutes is a staging problem, not a strength problem β the trailer gets loaded heavy-forward, dense material on the deck, light bulk on top. That's the difference between one trip and two, and one trip is what keeps your price flat.
What veteran ownership does not change: it doesn't make us cheaper than a low-overhead one-truck operator, and it doesn't make us licensed for anything a non-veteran competitor isn't. Anyone implying otherwise is selling you a feeling.
Pueblo West pricing, in actual numbers
Volume-based, measured against the trailer:
- Single item / minimum load β $75β$125. One mattress, one couch, one water heater.
- 1/4 trailer (about 3.5 cu yd) β $150β$185. A small shed's worth, or a bedroom set.
- 1/2 trailer (about 7 cu yd) β $250β$300. Standard two-car [garage cleanout](/services/garage-cleanout-pueblo) for most Pueblo West homes.
- Full trailer (14β16 cu yd) β $400β$450. Estate volume, full basement, or a big yard-debris push.
Add-ons we don't hide until the invoice:
- Mattresses and box springs: $35 each. They're bulky, they can't be compacted, and most facilities charge separately for them.
- Refrigerators, freezers, and AC units: $45 each. EPA Section 608 requires certified refrigerant recovery before disposal. That's a real cost, not a surcharge we made up.
- Tires: $6β$12 each depending on size. Landfills bill them individually.
- Weight overage past 6,000 lbs: about $65 per additional ton. This almost never hits on household junk. It hits constantly on [concrete and rock](/services/concrete-rock-removal-pueblo) β a single 8-ft Γ 10-ft concrete slab, 4 inches thick, runs roughly 4,000 lbs by itself.
Pueblo West sits about 10β12 miles from the Pueblo disposal facilities, so our disposal round trip is roughly 30β40 minutes. That's already priced in for anything inside the metro district boundary. Rye, Colorado City, Beulah, and the far end of Avondale may carry a $25β$50 travel add.
When you should NOT hire us
This is the section most hauling pages leave out. Read it before you call.
Skip us entirely if:
- You have one item and a pickup truck. A single dresser or one bag of yard waste is a $75 minimum charge for us and roughly $20β$30 in dump fees if you self-haul. You'd be paying $50 for the convenience of not lifting it. Sometimes that's worth it β often it isn't. Say so on the phone and we'll tell you straight.
- Your project runs multiple weekends. A 10-yard roll-off dumpster in the Pueblo area typically runs $325β$475 for a 7-day rental, and you fill it on your schedule. For a slow kitchen demo or a garage you're sorting through over three weekends, a dumpster beats us on both price and sanity. We're built for one-day, labor-included clearing. If that isn't your project, a roll-off is the better product and we'll tell you that.
- You're chasing the lowest possible number. There is always someone on Facebook Marketplace who will haul a couch for $40 in an unregistered trailer with no insurance. That's a legitimate option and we're not going to beat it. What you give up is liability coverage if the trailer takes out your garage door frame, and any assurance the load isn't going into an arroyo off Wildhorse Road. If that trade is fine with you, take it.
- The material is hazardous. We do not take paint, solvents, motor oil, pesticides, propane tanks, asbestos-containing siding or tile, or ammunition. Pueblo County runs household hazardous waste collection separately β call them first. If a hoarding-condition property involves biohazard or heavy rodent contamination, that requires a licensed remediation contractor, not a hauler. We'll refer you out and not charge you for the visit.
- You want something valued, not removed. We are not appraisers. If an [estate cleanout](/services/estate-cleanout-pueblo) may contain firearms, coins, jewelry, or tools worth real money, get an estate buyer through the property before we touch it. We've watched families lose more in a load than the entire job cost.
Failure modes we've actually hit in Pueblo West:
- Access. Long gravel driveways soften after storms, and a loaded trailer at 9,000+ lbs GVW can sink or rut. If we can't reach within 100 feet of the pile, hand-carry time gets added or we reschedule.
- Wind. Sustained 35+ mph gusts off the mesa make loading loose debris genuinely unsafe. We'd rather move your slot than tarp a load that ends up in your neighbor's yard.
- Underestimated volume. Customers routinely guess low by 30β50% on garages. If your quote was built on photos and the pile is bigger, the price adjusts before loading β not after.
- Buried surprises on demo. [Hot tub removals](/services/hot-tub-removal-pueblo) often reveal an unpermitted 220V hookup or a slab that wasn't in the plan. Budget a $100β$200 contingency on any demo job.
What happens to your stuff
Roughly 30β40% of a typical household load is not garbage. Serviceable furniture, working appliances, and usable building material go to local donation and reuse channels first. Metal goes to scrap. What's left goes to the landfill with a weighed ticket we'll show you if you ask.
We're not going to claim a 90% diversion rate. Nobody hauling mixed residential junk in southern Colorado hits that honestly. Drywall, treated lumber, broken particleboard furniture, and worn carpet go to the landfill because there is no other outlet for them here.
How to book, and what to have ready
Call or text with photos of the pile from two angles and a rough note on access β garage, backyard, second floor, behind a gate. That gets you a firm number within an hour during business hours instead of a "starting at" range.
Have ready:
- Gate codes or HOA/metro district access notes. Pueblo West Metro District covenant complaints are a common reason people call us on a deadline β if you're working against a written notice, tell us the date and we'll prioritize.
- Anything that should *not* be taken, physically separated or tagged. Loading crews move fast.
- Confirmation you're the owner or authorized. For [foreclosure and eviction cleanouts](/services/foreclosure-eviction-cleanout-pueblo), we need documentation before we haul.
Full service list is on our [services page](/services), coverage details are on our [Pueblo area page](/areas/pueblo), and the pricing questions we get most are answered on the [FAQ](/faq). If you're outside Pueblo West proper, start with [junk removal in Pueblo](/services/junk-removal-pueblo).
Ask us what branch. We'll tell you. Then ask what it costs β we'll tell you that too, before we load a thing.
Tell us what you've got β call or text (719) 334-4581. We'll send a fair quote fast, no high-pressure scripts, no surprise charges.
