PUEBLO WEST SHED COST & REMOVAL

Sticker price on the lot in Pueblo or off a big-box website is not your delivered, standing, wind-rated cost. Budget for these:

• Delivery and setup: $150–$400 from most Pueblo-area dealers. Free delivery usually caps at 20–30 miles, and parts of Pueblo West sit right at the edge of that radius.
• Site prep: A leveled gravel pad, 4–6 inches deep with a treated timber frame, runs $400–$1,200 for a 10x12 footprint. A 4-inch poured slab runs $6–$11 per square foot, so $720–$1,320 for that same 10x12.
• Wind anchoring: This is the line item people skip and regret. Spring gusts on the mesa regularly clear 60 mph, and 70–80 mph is not a freak event. Auger anchors or slab bolts add $120–$350 and are the difference between a shed and a very large kite.
• Permits: In unincorporated Pueblo County, accessory structures 200 square feet or under generally don't require a building permit — but "no permit" is not "no rules." Setbacks still apply, and if you put electrical in it, that's a separate permit regardless of size. Verify your specific parcel with Pueblo County Planning and Development before you buy.
• Pueblo West Metro District covenants: Most residential lots here are subject to district covenants that govern outbuildings — placement, height, materials, and how many you're allowed. Plenty of people find this out after the shed is standing. Ask first; it's a free phone call and a $4,000 mistake to skip.

At roughly 4,800 feet, UV exposure chews through cheap resin and thin shingles faster than the warranty implies. A $700 plastic shed that's advertised at 10 years often looks brittle and chalked at year 6 or 7 here. Metal handles UV fine but dents in hail, and Pueblo County catches damaging hail most summers.

Removal pricing comes down to three things: how much material ends up in the truck, how many hours it takes to get it there, and what the landfill charges by weight.

Typical ClearPath ranges in Pueblo West:

Weight matters more than people expect. Asphalt shingles are dense — a single layer on a 10x12 roof is 400–600 lbs by itself. Pressure-treated lumber, old plywood soaked with 15 years of roof leaks, and concrete all get charged by the ton, and disposal is a real chunk of any honest quote, not a markup. > The cheapest shed in Pueblo West is the one you don't buy twice. Anchoring, a level pad, and a covenant check cost about $600 up front and are the entire difference between a 15-year building and a 4-year one.

Here's the part most contractor pages leave out. There are several situations where hiring ClearPath — or anyone — is a bad use of your money.

Small metal or resin sheds are genuinely DIY-able. An 8x8 metal shed is sheet panels and bolts. With a socket set, a helper, and two hours, you can flatten it into a pickup bed. Scrap metal yards in Pueblo will often take clean steel panels for free or pay a small amount. Your total cost might be $0–$60 versus our $250 minimum. If you're physically able and have a truck, do it yourself. We'd rather tell you that than take $300 for ninety minutes of easy work.

If the shed still has life in it, sell it or move it, don't demo it. A structurally sound 10x12 wood shed with a decent roof sells locally for $400–$1,200. Shed-moving outfits with a mule or trailer will relocate one for $300–$700. Demolition converts an asset into a disposal bill. Check the resale route first — post photos and see what happens in a week.

If you're already renting a roll-off for a bigger project, use it. A 20-yard dumpster in the Pueblo area runs roughly $400–$650 for a week. If you're re-roofing the house or gutting a bathroom anyway, adding the shed to that container is nearly free marginal cost. We cannot touch suspected asbestos. Sheds built before roughly 1985 sometimes have transite (asbestos-cement) siding or roof panels — gray, brittle, corrugated, distinct fiber texture. That requires a licensed abatement contractor and CDPHE notification, and it can cost $1,500–$6,000 on its own. We will stop and tell you rather than break it up. Same story for buried fuel drums or unlabeled chemical containers we find inside.

Sheds with live electrical, plumbing, or a shared wall are not a straight junk removal job. If a subpanel feeds the shed, a licensed electrician needs to disconnect it at the source first — typically $150–$400. We won't cut live conductors.

Leaving the slab is often the right call. People reflexively ask to remove the concrete. If you're replacing the shed in the same spot, an intact, reasonably level slab is worth $700–$1,300 you don't have to spend on site prep. Removing it and pouring a new one is a $2,000 round trip for no gain. Look at it before you order it gone. Our minimum is real. We have a floor of roughly $175–$250 on any dispatched job. Diesel to Pueblo West, crew time, insurance, and landfill fees don't scale down to a single small item. Three things reliably move a shed removal price after we arrive, so flag them when you call:

• Access. If the shed sits behind a 36-inch gate, down a slope, or on the far side of a soft-dirt lot the truck can't cross, every piece of debris gets carried by hand. That can add 2–4 hours and 30–50% to the quote.
• Contents. "It's basically empty" and "there are a few boxes" have meant very different things. Send photos of the inside, not just the outside.
• Rot and collapse. A partially collapsed shed is sometimes *cheaper* (it's already down) and sometimes more expensive (unstable, nail-riddled, has to be cut apart carefully). A saturated wood floor sitting on dirt can weigh double what a dry one does.

If you're replacing a shed in Pueblo West, a realistic all-in budget looks like this: $450–$950 to remove the old wood shed, $400–$1,200 for a proper gravel pad or $720–$1,320 for a slab, $2,800–$6,500 for a mid-grade delivered building, $150–$400 for delivery, and $120–$350 for anchoring. Call it $4,000–$9,500 for a solid 10x12 to 12x16 setup done correctly.
