Add the labor differential. Overnight and holiday pay runs 1.5x. A 90-minute job that costs us about $60 in daytime labor costs roughly $90 to $110 overnight, before fuel and the 22-mile round trip from Pueblo West to the transfer station.

Real numbers from our own jobs:

• Single mattress and box spring, 11:40 p.m., McCulloch Blvd: $125 base + $75 after-hours = $200. Same job at 10 a.m. Tuesday: $125.
• Refrigerator blocking a garage door, 2 a.m.: $150 + $75 = $225. Freon-bearing units add $35 for certified reclamation regardless of hour.
• Post-water-heater-failure debris, 4 a.m., Sunday: roughly half truck, $375 + $150 holiday-weekend surcharge = $525.
• Full 15-yard load, 3 a.m. eviction turnover: $650 + $150 = $800, plus a $100 second-crew fee because two people couldn't safely move a gun safe.

Pay attention to that first line. The mattress cost 60% more for no reason other than the clock.

This is the section that costs us money, and it's the most useful thing on this page.

Do not pay the overnight surcharge if the junk isn't hurting you tonight. A pile of yard debris in the side yard, an old couch in the garage, a shed you've been meaning to tear down — none of that gets more expensive by waiting until Tuesday morning. Specific cases where waiting is the right call:

• Spring and fall cleanouts. If you're clearing the [garage](/services/garage-cleanout-pueblo) or hauling [yard debris](/services/yard-debris-removal-pueblo), the job is 3 to 6 hours. Overnight rates on a 5-hour job add $150 for nothing. Worse, we can't run loud equipment past 10 p.m. in most Pueblo West neighborhoods without generating a complaint.
• Anything under $150 total. If it's one item, the surcharge can be half the bill. Wait.

Six things cut both your wait and your bill:

• Text photos, not descriptions. "A couple boxes" and "a couple boxes" differ by 400% in volume. Photos from two angles with a person or door for scale get you a firm number in about 10 minutes instead of a range.
• Measure the carry distance. Pace it off. 40 feet versus 180 feet is a real price difference.
